Fall Workout Part 2

If you missed my post Wednesday I showed you my embarrassing before shot.  Like most folks I don’t like seeing pictures of myself, and I especially don’t like pictures of me in sports bras or my bikini playing volleyball.  I shared with you that I needed to get on a workout plan for the fall so that I would not gain the 5-10 pounds that I normally gain during my off season.  Click here to read that post first.

I promised that I would share with you my fall workout plan.  After much thought I decided that I want to be flexible.  I want to do something different.

What did I decide on?

Well nothing exactly.  I decided that I would do a little bit of everything.

This fall and part of December I’m going to to mix it up.  I’m going to try some new exercise videos and equipment.  I’m going to be consistent though, work up a good sweat and stretch too.

My plan is to workout 4-5 days a week.  Mondays I have a good 2 hour block of free time while my kids take a couple of classes, so I plan on doing an hour workout that day, and cleaning my house the other hour.  Tuesdays I need to spend as much time as I can with the kiddos homeschooling so I need to do a shorter workout.  I will do 30 minutes of interval training on the eliptical machine.  I’ll explain more on another day how I’ll do this.  Wednesdays I can do a long workout again, so I plan on spending 45 minutes-1 hour working out.  Thursdays I have to cut it short again and I will again do a 30 minute cardio session or take the day off depending on what my body is telling me.  Fridays I can do another long workout so I’ll spend 45 minutes to 1 hour working out again.

Here are some of the workouts I plan on trying.

  • P90x Plus series
  • Zumba
  • Kettlebells
  • Insanity
  • iPhone App training workouts (Tabata and H.I.I.T)
  • Maybe Power Half Hour
  • P90x2
  • Some of your favorite online workouts

If you have a favorite circuit you do, or a favorite online coach, or blog you like that gives you workouts let me know and I’ll try them out.  I want variety.  I don’t want my body stuck in a rut.  This is going to be fun.

Good news for those of you looking for a steady plan, in January we are going to have a fitness challenge to help you with your 2012 fitness goals.  We are working on it now so that we can help you every step of the way.  We’ll help you with exercise plans, and give you healthy tips to meet your goals.  :)

What are YOU going to do or what are you currently doing for your workout???  You don’t have to wait until January you can start NOW.

Fall Workout

Hi Fit Moms-

I’m trying to get on track for the fall.  I know we are more than 1/2 way through it, but I’m just 1 month into my off season and really need to focus.  With Halloween behind us, and Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years on the horizon, I’ve got to get my act together.

I love this time of year.  You know, comfort food season.  Clam chowder, pumpkin pie, apple pie, pumpkin pancakes, cheesy lasagna, turkey, dressing, macaroni and cheese.  Anything cheesy, creamy, and sweet I L.O.V.E.  This year, I cannot fall into the trap I usually allow myself to fall into.  This year, I MUST have a plan, I MUST workout!

Who’s with me?

I figure if I have a plan and stick to it, I’ll be alright come New Years.  I will NOT gain 5-10 pounds like I normally do during my off season. (Yes, that’s the truth, I gain that much)   My goal is to stay where I am weight wise, and actually firm up.  Since I’ve been in my off season, I’ve softened up a little bit.  So, for some accountability I’m going to do what I’ve never done before.  I’m going to post a before picture, and in January I’ll post an after one.  The only reason I’m doing this is for accountability.  You’ll be able to tell if I’m working out or not.

So, here we go…

I’m hoping to get a six pack by January. :)   No, not really.  I just want to get stronger in the ab/back area and firm up.  Is it possible with 3 big holiday’s coming up?? And weeks of parties and yummy leftovers?  We’ll see.  With determination, and accountability I think I can do it.  I’d LOVE your encouragement.  I’d love for some of you to take up the challenge yourself to either not gain weight, or lose some of your excess pounds over the holiday season.

By the way, I’m not really  trying to get a 6 pack (if I get one from what I’m doing though I won’t complain, lol), I have back issues.  The firmer my tummy is, the more flexible I get, and the more I use my foam roller the better my back will feel.  There are times I cry out in pain, other times my back seizes and I can’t move.  My goal is NOT just for looks, but much more so for health.  I know that when I stretch, get stronger and have less body fat my knees and back feel so much better.  I’ve played volleyball for 26 years now, and that’s a lot of wear and tear on my body.  Healthy for me involves more than just a number on a scale.  My goal is for my body to feel better, aka “normal”, in January and it begins with my fall workout plan.

I’ll share more about my actual plan in my next post, part 2 of the Fall Workout.

What does your workout plan consist of???
