A Better Me Challenge- Day 6

Photobucket

Good Monday Morning!  I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!  Did you enjoy more fruit and veggies, juicing, memorizing your affirmation or scripture, and some solitude??!!  If you did all of that, I know your weekend was full, but great.  :)   Did anyone watch Forks Over Knives?  If you watched it, go on over to our Facebook page today, and let’s talk about it!!  I’m dying to read your thoughts!  If you haven’t watched it, please do!

I need to take care of a little business before we begin.  Some of you have told me you haven’t been getting our daily challenge post sent to your email.  That’s because you have not subscribed to the posts. :)   If you downloaded the eBook you got a confirmation email that said something about subscription.  That is not the daily post subscription.  That allows me to email you once in awhile to give you news about whats going on at the site, and newsletters periodically.  In order to get posts to your email whenever a new one is released you must subscribe on the right sidebar where it says Get the latest news fresh to your email inbox, or press where it says Subscribe to RSS (there is an email option).  Or, click here. I hope that helps you ladies.  Thanks for asking.

If you didn’t fill out this super short survey yesterday, please fill it out today. Thanks! This helps me, to help you. :)

Physical

You know what’s funny.  Every time I type the word physical, I start singing Olivia Newton-John’s song.  “

Let’s get physical, physical

I wanna get physical
Let’s get into physical
Let me hear your body talk, your body talk
Let me hear your body talk

LOL!  It’s in my head so I thought I’d put it into yours as well.  :)   Anyway, back to A Better Me Challenge.  I’m sure some of you have wondered when we are going to talk about working out?  Well, not today.  Believe me, we will get there.  There are so many things we have to get right ladies before we discuss our workout.  I’m not saying don’t start exercising.  You can start! You should start!  On our download page where the free eBook is, you should have downloaded your 12 week workout plan for FREE by now.  Feel free to do the beginner or intermediate plans, or your own workout.

Today we are still working on FOOD.  Did you know that the way you look has more to do with what you eat than how much you exercise?  Do you keep wondering why you can’t lose that last 10 lbs, or why you still don’t have a 6 pack?  You know the 80/20 rule?  Well the reason is, that 80% is your diet, and 20% your workout.  That’s why we are starting with getting cleaned out, and then we are adding the right foods back into our daily diet.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Tonya Peele who is the author of Quick Wins for Healthy Eating: Easy Changes Your Family Can Make Now! Tonya is a health educator, an inspiring home-cook, and has appeared on the Rachael Ray show with President Bill Clinton.  In the following video Tonya and I discuss natural and whole foods.   We talk about some of the lies we’ve believed about protein and fat, the Better Diet Project, and more!  Take some time today to listen to our discussion, and let’s ALL continue the conversation on our Facebook page (and if you aren’t on Facebook in the comments below).  Continue making healthy choices!  It’s ALL about choices ladies! You can do it!

After you watch the video, take a hard look into your pantry and refrigerator, what percentage of your food do you think is whole or natural food like Tonya and I discussed? What will you do about it?

This was a great video. Thanks! I wonder if I can be natural and eat whole foods most of the time but still keep my reduced fat JIF or Skippy peanut butter in my diet. I LOVE eating peanut butter with frozen bananas and apples. It’s become my favorite dessert since I began eating healthier but I’m trying to cut out processed foods this year. But I just can’t get my head wrapped around giving up my peanut butter (and the natural kind just isn’t the same :) ).

Fawn… you don’t have to get rid of your peanut butter. :) Watch this video of Mya and Victoria making HOMEMADE peanut butter, it just takes a few minutes, and you can make yourself a jar guilt free. http://www.fitmomsfitkidsclub.com/2011/02/3163peanutbutter/ ENJOY- they have a cute impromptu song at the end, I crack up every time I watch it.

  2. [...] I have been eagerly anticipating this step since we began this challenge.  Today your action step will be to clean out your pantry!  Can I get an Amen?  You see, I’m very excited.  First of all, why are we going to clean out our pantry?  In most of our pantry’s, mine included, lurks boxes and cans of processed foods that are literally killing us ladies. I mean have you asked yourself how can some of the foods in your cabinet have a shelf life of 1-4 years???  The answer is they are staying “fresh” by things we cannot pronounce. Chemicals, additives, they have coloring, flavoring, and enhancements that only a science lab could create.  These things are designed to get you hooked, like a drug addict, and will make you unhealthy.  Most of the stuff in our cabinets and fridge have been engineered to be “food” we eat out of convienence, when it’s pretty easy to get the real stuff that truly satisfies us.  If you haven’t watched the interview I did with health educator Tonya Peele, watch it now.
