Hello Fit Moms! I hope you are ready for your week! My goal for the week is to “be good” and “eat well”. My husband’s favorite thing to say now days is “You can’t out train a bad diet”. Unfortunately he likes to say that when I’m complaining about my cellulite on my legs.
But, it’s so true. You can’t out train a bad diet. Don’t get me wrong I don’t go around eating bad stuff all day, but I do like my treats. Even though I’m training on the beach working hard, doing my squats, my elliptical, my yoga, and more, if I keep “treating myself” I’ll never get the results I desire. So…. I’m going to do better this week. (I hope)
Last week I promised that I would share the Royal Tea Party that I had with my daughter with you and I didn’t find the time to do that so I thought I’d do it today. Saturday April 30th I invited my daughter and her friend and mom to enjoy a Royal Tea Party! This tea was not done on paper plates with fake food. I made almost everything from scratch and served it all up on cute 2 tier trays with real teacups and saucers. Here’s how the day went.
The table was set for the princesses and the queens to enjoy their Royal Tea. I picked fresh flowers from outside. I had a wonderful frame with my favorite bible verse on it and I taped the girls’ picture to it to remind them of Proverbs 31:30-31. The part to focus on that day was verse 30 “Charm is deceptive and beauty fades, but a Woman who fears the Lord shall be praised.” Princesses grow old, and the most important part of our lives should be our relationship with the King of Kings.
The royal princess came to the tea party in their most beautiful gowns, and like any princess would do the girls arrived to the party on their favorite horses. Only the best for these girls.
Our royal menu included white chocolate chip almond scones (with lemon curd and jam), chicken salad sandwiches, cucumber tea sandwiches, peanut butter brownie bites, strawberries and mock devonshire cream layered in a champagne flute, and freshly brewed strawberry kiwi tea. The house smelled amazing from all the fresh baked bread and yummy treats.
Half way through the tea the “queens” talked with the girls about being God’s princess, and how they are real life princesses! To drive the point home I showed them a cute little play production that is based on the book “Gigi God’s Little Princess.” Just click on the screen below to watch it with your little princess!
After we finished watching the princess play we headed into the family room to watch The Royal Wedding. All the girls wanted to see was the dress, and the KISS. LOL. I gave them mirrors to decorate (aka bling out) while we fast forwarded through most of the ceremony to the “best parts”. I told them that though they are both beautiful on the outside, it’s the inside that matters most, the heart. And, God loves beautiful hearts. As princesses the reflection that they should want to see in their mirror is God’s. His character reflected in them. Probably went way over their heads but it’s a seed planted in them. I gave them each 2 mirrors and told them that princesses aren’t selfish. They love, care, and serve others. So they are to give the 2nd mirror to another one of their friends and tell her how and why she is God’s princess too! They received wooden dolls to dress in “appropriate” clothes, because a real princess honors the King by how she presents herself to the world in modesty.
After every Royal Wedding there is a party! So, we let the girls celebrate being daughters of God by giving them ribbon wands to dance to classical music. We had a blast! I hope this Royal Tea Party will be something the girls remember for a lifetime. I’m looking forward to doing things like this at least once a year with my Victoria. I want to always pour into her confirming who she is, and encouraging her to be a real life princess who loves, serves, and always remembers who her heavenly daddy is.

Your husband’s moto really hit home with me. I sadly agree with him. I’ve never heard it quite like that before. It’s so logical. I think I’ll be putting that message on my pantry and fridge doors. I like to treat myself also. I gave you a shout out on my facebook fan page. http://www.facebook.com/racingandsavingmama
