Introducing Our Fit Mama To Be Katie Lindquist Jameson

Hi, my name is Katie Lindquist Jameson and I am here to relay my ongoing experiences as a healthy and fit mama to be.  As a professional beach volleyball player and kindergarten teacher I have always balanced work and fitness; a balance I hope to continue as I begin this altogether remarkable journey toward motherhood.  However, finding a proper balance between these endeavors can be challenging even under normal circumstances, yet, as any pregnant woman can attest, my body and my baby are occasionally at odds over how to achieve such a balance.

Currently, I am 15 weeks along with Baby Ralphie, as my hubby has affectionately dubbed our child, and he (the baby, not my husband) is already imposing his will on my life.  Before being pregnant I would charge through each day with energy galore, only stopping once my husband started watching Lost.  Now, Baby Ralphie has determined he likes it when I nap.  I nap everyday.  In fact, my energy… is… fading… as… I… type.  And now, when I need it the most, I am deprived of that vital, nectar of the gods, Chai Tea.  Plus, Baby Ralphie has already determined that he is a picky eater, making most food unappealing.  Ugh, and don’t get me started about how any joy I got from running disappeared now that I feel my stomach stretch with each stride.  So, as the more experienced mothers reading this blog or the mothers who are finishing up their 3rd trimesters will tell you, there are all kinds of challenges to staying in good shape while pregnant.

Over the course of my blogging, I expect to discuss methods for motivating to workout when you are not feeling so hot, means for coping with cravings and food aversions and how to deal with them without letting them get out of control, and the various alternatives I find for working out.  Comments and questions are always welcome, and would probably even lead to future blog topics which I’m sure I’ll be in need of.  Enjoy!

Nice article. Having seen my wife deal with these same issues during her pregnancies I wish we had this resources then. I hope you write a bit on how to get back into shape after the baby comes. We will both need that in a few weeks here.
