Totally Desperate Moms Unite!

Before I had children I looked like this. But birthing four babies in five years has done quite a number on my bod . . . it even changed my skin color.
Here I am before children:

Here I am after children:

But just because my bod will never look quite that amazing again doesn’t mean that I cannot be a healthy mom. Join me in taking the pledge! My name is Wendy and I am the Totally Desperate Mom to Elijah (6 years old), Lydia (4 years old) and Jordis (22 months old). My firstborn daughter, Faith, ditched us for heaven when she was 4 days old. (For more of that story you visit www.faithhagen.blogpot.com). I love to write, bake, dance, watch UCLA sports, and watch movies with my husband.  But my very favorite activity is “family cuddle time.”
I have always been an active person. I was an avid dancer growing up all the way through my college years where I was on the UCLA dance team. I have been a certified group exercise instructor through the American Council on Exercise for over 10 years. I taught step classes up until my 34th week of pregnancies with Elijah and Lydia. I took a hip-hop class up until my 34th week of pregnancy with Jordis. Exercise does wonders for my physical and mental health. All that being said — with three young kids it is hard to find time, energy, and motivation to exercise. But it’s possible. Stick with us here at Fit Mom Fit Kids and we will give you support and encouragement! I will be posting here once or twice a month offering some humor, encouragement and desperate mom tips for moms with young children so we can get fit, stay fit, or at least dream about it. :  )
Let me remind you that taking the pledge does not mean we will be perfect in our quest for healthy living. It does not mean that we have to be professional athletes. (Although I am confident I could dominate Olympian Annett Davis, Fit Moms Fit Kids founder, on the volleyball court. My 5′ 1″ frame alone is enough to intimidate her.) Taking the pledge does mean that we desperate moms will do what we can to model healthy living for our children and provide them opportunities to be healthy themselves!  Come on all you Desperate Moms, join me, Take the Pledge today!
Until Next Blog,
Wendy the Totally Desperate Mom
P.S. In a moment of temporary insanity I decided to write a book in my “free time.” So from 8pm to midnight over the last year I wrote Totally Desperate Mom: Keepin’ it Real in the Motherhood, which will be out next month.
